Pros and Cons of Living in Vero Beach, Florida

Are you considering a move to Vero Beach, Florida? Before you make a decision, it’s important to weigh the pros and cons of living in this beautiful coastal community.

As real estate experts and residents of Vero Beach, we can attest to the many benefits of living here. However, it’s not the perfect place for everyone. In this blog post, we will share three pros and three cons of living in Vero Beach to help you decide if it’s the right place for you.

Pro #1: Slow-paced Busy Season. Vero Beach is often referred to as a hidden gem, and for good reason. Despite the influx of tourists during the winter, traffic remains manageable, beaches are accessible with free parking, and restaurant wait times are reasonable. This allows us to maintain a small-town feel all year round. If you’re looking for a more lowkey town with all the perks of living by the beach in Florida, definitely give us a visit to explore Vero.

Con #1: Lack of Nightlife. If you’re a fan of staying out late with friends and hitting the club scene, Vero Beach may not be the place for you. While we do have plenty of local bars and chic cocktail lounges, options for all-night partying are limited. We have a handful of bars and cocktail lounges open late into the night for locals to grab a few drinks on the beach, but for the most part Vero is quiet during the night.

Pro #2: A Nice Combination of Young Families and Retired Couples. One of the things that makes Vero Beach special is the mix of young families and retired couples. This helps to maintain a quiet, slow pace of life. You’ll often see older couples walking on the beach, young families enjoying ice cream by the river, and young adults surfing in the ocean. However, if you’re looking for a fast-paced city bustling with singles, Vero Beach may not be the place for you. Vero is more of a laid-back family town, but there is plenty to do for young adults with local bars, nature trails, surfing, and more!

Con #2: Limited Pet-Friendly Beach Options. Surprisingly, Vero Beach technically doesn’t have any pet-friendly public beaches. Most pet owners bring their furry friends to the private neighborhood beaches or to sand bars or islands in the Intracoastal to enjoy the water and sand. Many locals will sneak in their pets after the sun goes down, but of course be mindful of keeping dogs on a leash and cleaning up after them if you bring them onto the beach!

Pro #3: Small Business-Friendly. One of the things we love about Vero Beach is the presence of locally-owned shops, restaurants, and businesses. However, this also means that there are fewer options for high-end shopping and national chains. If you’re a fan of shopping at big-name brands, Vero Beach may not be the place for you. But if you love to explore shops from local artisans, farms, and more you will love Vero. There is a farmers market every Saturday morning that is bustling with local businesses from all industries!

Con #3: Distance from Big Cities. While Vero Beach is a great place to live, it’s not a major metropolis. If you need the convenience of big city amenities, you’ll have to make a short drive to nearby cities like Melbourne, West Palm, and Orlando. On average Vero Beach is about 1.5-2 hours away from major Florida cities, close enough for day or weekend trips but not daily visits!

All in all, Vero Beach is a wonderful place to live with many benefits, but it’s not the perfect place for everyone. Consider the pros and cons before making a decision about moving here.
