Things to do in Vero Beach, Florida

Vero Beach: A Hidden Gem on Florida’s East Coast

If you’re looking for a small beach town that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, culture, and fun activities, Vero Beach is the place to be. Located on the east coast of Florida, it’s just 2 hours north of Fort Lauderdale and 45 minutes south of Melbourne, making it a great destination for a weekend getaway or a longer vacation.

One of the best things to do in Vero Beach is to go shopping on Ocean Drive. This street is lined with boutiques that offer a wide range of products, from clothing and home décor to souvenirs and delicious tacos from a local favorite restaurant, El Sid. You’ll love the cool ocean breeze as you explore the different stores and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of the town.

Another great way to spend your time in Vero Beach is to exercise on the fitness trail in Riverside Park. The trail is a 1-mile loop that winds through majestic oak trees and palm trees, providing plenty of shade and cool breezes as you walk or run. The park also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, such as farmers markets, festivals, and an amazing fireworks display over the lagoon on the 4th of July.

If you’re interested in art, make sure to visit the Vero Beach Art Museum. This museum houses state and national art exhibits, as well as exhibits from local artists who reside in the town. Many of the original Vero Beach homes that are being sold donate artwork to the museum, which means you’ll be able to see a great combination of nationally acclaimed art, as well as beautiful pieces from your very own neighbors. Additionally, the museum has an incredible sculpture garden, live performances, workshops, and more.

After visiting the museum, take some time to enjoy a cocktail and some local cuisine right on the ocean. Vero’s beachside is incredible, with a variety of restaurants that offer something for everyone. You’ll find fresh seafood caught that morning, delicious American comfort food, authentic Mexican, great Italian spots, and more. There are also a few shops that sell ice cream and sweets, including the authentic gelato shop Vero Caffe. Vero Caffe was opened by Joe, who studied how to make gelato in Italy for 2 years! And if you’re in the mood for drinks, you can visit a chic cocktail lounge like Sol Mar to enjoy specialty drinks, or stop by a relaxed brewery like Sailfish to enjoy some beer and appetizers. Our favorite menu item from Sailfish is their fried peanut butter sandwich, it is a must try if you stop by!

If you’re in the mood to spend the day in the water, you can rent a paddleboard or kayak at Shark Bait and go out on the water for some outdoor fun. Or you can swim to the shipwreck right off the coast to go snorkeling. You can also rent beach chairs and a tent from Shark Bait and spend the day soaking up the Florida sun on the soft white sand. The best part is, you can spend all day on the beachside for free. You do not have to pay for parking in Vero Beach! And because it’s a small beach town, you can always find a spot to park and enjoy our beachside all year around.

Vero Beach truly is a hidden gem on Florida’s east coast that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, culture, and fun activities. Whether you’re interested in shopping, exercising, art, food, or water activities, you’ll find something to suit your taste in this small beach town. So, pack your bags and come to Vero Beach for a memorable vacation! and if you’re interested in making a move to our beautiful town and becoming a local, give us a call today!
